Members of Kentland along with their families made our annual trip to Newark, DE for the Some Gave All 5k, a race held in memory of our brother Christopher Slutman. Whether you remember him from his role as Staff Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, Life Member at Kentland, or FDNY firefighter at Ladder 27 in the Bronx, Chris left a lasting impression. As Shannon said today, one of the things Chris did best was showing up – for his friends in times of need, for his co-workers and brothers in arms, for his community, and for his country. We can all take a lesson from that.
Shannon and his daughters continue to honor his legacy through volunteer work, activism, and community service, raising thousands of dollars for the Tunnels to Towers Foundation from this race and other events, and helping to spearhead the development of the Global War on Terror Memorial on the National Mall.
